Forgetful? Me? Surely Not!

Fingers Crossed!

Well, hello there!

It's be a while since I'd thought about this little blog of mine. Not that I'm forgetful in my "old age" but let it be said, it's been a while. Spring is springing in my neck of the woods and I couldn't be happier. Flowers are blooming and trees are turning green once again and all's right with the world.

Lots going on in my world these days. The national election primaries and The Donald but don't get me started on that. I just said "all's right with the world" and I'd like to keep it that way even for a little while this morning.

The obvious title and subject matter of my blog is "Reconstructing Rita". I'm slowly learning that bringing the title of my blog to actual fruition can be a little more difficult that just pronouncing the words. And the older I get the more difficult it can be to do so. But I control the things I can, change the ones within my capabilities and learn to accept the changes I have no control over at all.

And the good news today is that I still love to decorate. We've lived in our condo for a little over two years and I've done just about everything I'm willing to do to make it a lovelier and more relaxing place to live and having done so, my hubby and I are ready to move on to another project - a 1935 cottage that you can see in the photo above which is in need of a little loving.

Stay tuned for what happens as we continue to try to sell our condo and wait to sign the papers on our next project.

Cheerio!

July 4, 2013

Good morning and welcome to the first day of my blog!

It's Independence Day in the USA and my hibiscus finally decided after two dormant months to bloom once again and right on the 4th of July. I'm not sure what to make of this event except to say that I hope the two five foot tall Rose of Sharon plants which are on their third summer in the ground will follow suit and bloom soon as well.

It's been a good day so far and we have plans for food, fun and fireworks downtown this evening just as so many people around this great nation will be doing as well. The odd thing about the day so far (it's nearly 4 pm) is that we haven't heard a single firecracker at all. Not even one. Not sure why but it does make me curious.

But I do hear birds singing even over the sound of the dishwasher running and that's a good thing. It's so nice to live around trees again in this older neighborhood to which we have downsized. Just us and the birds and squirrels and the occasional car that took a wrong turn. I do miss the sounds of little kids playing but I think most of them are inside on their cell phones no matter where they live.

Short post on this first day but I simply can't think of anything better to say than "Happy 4th to Everyone" and let freedom ring!
